Nothing Is As It Seems To Be — There were all kinds of experiments done on Kyle and me when we were kidnapped and taken to that lab. One of the experiments made gave me a form of immortality. Another gave me the full blown AIDS virus. And, because it was a week between when I got home and when my HIV test came back, Bren ended up contracting HIV, also. We were, understandably, in a panic when we found out that we’d both been infected. It took some calls, but Bren was able to get a doctor by the name of Caleb McAllister to come out and cure us. Part of the process of curing us involved taking blood and running our DNA. That’s when we found out that I’m not actually human. My DNA told the story that I was a Wingrider, even though I had no idea how. The tests showed that I was most closely related to Liam and Amberle Holloman. As I mentioned, my last name was Holloman until I married Bren. So we talked to my dad and got the story of how my family came to be here on Earth. Dad, his younger sister, and brother-in-law were brought here through some accident that swept them through space and time. Dad’s parents had been Liam and Amberle Holloman in that universe. In this universe, Liam and Amberle had never been able to have children. So it really did take my dad to complete the picture of how we were related to Liam and Amberle. Spencer also had her DNA tested, and it turned out that she was the daughter of Dad’s younger sister. My Aunt and Uncle had died when Spencer was born. The family that raised Spencer had brought a stillborn baby into the world. So they paid the doctor and nurses off to take Spencer home instead of their stillborn baby. So I grew up my whole life with my cousin right next door, and we never even knew it until after Bren and me were infected with HIV. Once we found all these familial connections, the four of us (Spencer, Jackson, Bren, and me), decided to move out to the Wingrider community in Canada. That’s where our extended families were — or, in Spencer’s case, her biological parents. I’m not gonna go into details about how her parents were there. That’s not my story to tell. But they were there. So we uprooted our families and have been living in the community for the past year. I can’t say that the kids like it here. Kaity and Benji both want to be back in Cambridge with their friends. But they’re making friends out here. Both of them are adjusting well, and it’s because we’re here that the twins were born without any complications. Caleb McAllister is an amazing doctor, and the technology that he has is just as incredible as he is. I spend quite a bit of time with my extended family here. I want to know them and I want them to know me. The kids are slowly getting used to having great grandparents who look to be the same age as their parents. None of the really old people here look any older than about 35 for the most part. It’s strange, but it is also very nice. It’s also a lot safer for Bren and me. We’ve stopped aging, and it won’t be long before our neighbors would have started questioning who we had for plastic surgeons. I don’t see us going back to Cambridge for a while.
